The Lake Worth Castle 4

While researching the castle; we visited the local Lake Worth library to see if they knew anything about Heron bay or the surrounding areas. We were handed a binder full of news articles, within the articles we found a tab. “The Haunted Castle” it said. There has been many fires that are documented onto this location. The most recent was in 2000, with the building still showing evidence of damage. We could not secure a photo of the damage due to the no trespassing sign and the barbed fence they have. Phillip and I visited the castle at night to see if we could spot any paranormal activity. We only shined the lights at the front but we saw a white object on the front window. We had a picture but unfortunately We lost it. It was not there the next morning.

Lake Worth Castle 5

Although there is many stories about the Castle.People I have talked to do not believe there is such things as a paranormal hunting. I believe there is. Of course some stories are made up, but most of them are factual and people have witnessed the phemoneons. There is many things you need to see first to believe. I was not a believer, until I saw it for myself. I always asked myself how can phenomenons like this happening without leaving any documentary evidence? I do believe the Castle is haunted. Only eveidence there ever was, would be the newspaper articles of the tragic accidents.

The Lake Worth Castle 3

The Castle has many horror stories to accompany its distant history. Some are said to be true a lot of them are just made up. It is said that the land Mr. Samuel Whiting won the land in a poker game in 1920's.
After the Lake Worth project had been completed many houses were built along the shore. The whitings built themselves a castle. However the Whitings made it Appealing to the public. Mr. and Mrs. Whiting designed and constructed the Castle.
Their son committed a suicide in the castle.They never knew why. The Whitings lived on the property until 1954. When they leased the castle to the City of Fort Worth they did not give explanations. Ever since they left, Residents always say that the Whitings sons spirit remains in the castle.

In the mid 70's Tony and Marian May offered a series of meditation classes. Tony and Marian fought hard to restore the castle but a fire gutted the insides of there hard work one unfortunate night. The castle also offered "open forum" to people and groups willing to preach or sell ideas about their beliefs or whatever it was that they were into. It's was open to many activities.

It is difficult to trace the history of the Castle before eighteen-seventy six due to a fire that destroyed the Fort Worth Courthouse leaving no records of previous ownership. During the Civil War Ulrich Cannon owned the property. Sickness Fell upon Ulrick ultimately leaving Julian Feild as the owner. The Charles Turner family were next to acquire the property between 1873 to 1894. Two Decades later. It is then when the land was sold to City of Fort Worth for portions of the land needed for the Lake Worth project. At the time there was only one house on the property. After construction of The Lake Worth Reservoir, The City of Fort Worth leased the property. During this period the Whitings constructed what we now know as "Lake Worth Castle." between 1944 to 1954 the Vultee Aircraft Corporation leased the estate, to entertain businessmen and dignitaries. Since Then the Estate has been traded often.

One famous person that stayed there was Jimmy Stewart during the filming of "Strategic Air Command."

The Lake Worth Castle 1

Have you ever wondered why the most beautiful buildings get albandoned? Could it be, because it is haunted? The Lake Worth Castle it's a wonderful, building. It's located on Heron Drive, and has a lot of stories.When I first heard of the castle it drew my attention. I asked myself how can a castle be here at Lake Worth. I had to see for myself. I always heard different stories, so I felt like I had to investigate myself.I actually live in Lake Worth and it was facinating to me the we actually had castle. When I think of castle I think of fairy tales. The Lake Worth Castle changed my perspective.
